Stations of the Cross The fourteen
Stations of the Cross, cast in bronze, are
arranged along the side walls of the Cathedral.
This devotion originated early in the history of
the Church where it became the custom of
the faithful to follow the way walked by Christ
from Pilate's house in Jerusalem to Calvary.
In time, pilgrims to the holy city continued
this devotion when they returned home. In
the fourteenth century when the Franciscans were
entrusted with the care of the holy places in
Jerusalem, they promoted the use of images
depicting the Lord's way to the cross. The
Cathedral Stations were created by Romanian
sculptors, Victoria and Julian Christiana.
