Marian Window
of the Immaculate Conception

In the west transept we see the Marian Window of the Immaculate Conception, one of the three rose windows of the co-cathedral.  The window is dominated by the letters A and M for Ave Maria (Hail Mary), the angel Gabriel's salutation to Mary mentioned in St. Luke's Gospel.  The crown around the Ave Maria lettering testifies to Mary's reign as Queen of heaven and earth.  The surrounding twelve stars (Rev 12:1) are the same design as the Texas state star in recognition of Mary as the patroness of the archdiocese.
