The Catechetical Leadership Institute (CLI) is a two year
program for those who have taken BFCL (or its equivalent) and
are currently serving in catechetical ministry. One year of
study is dedicated to theological areas while the other year is
designed to hone the skills necessary for the ministry of a
catechetical leader. Classes meet for full days, once a month at
St. Dominic Center.
Catechetical leaders with practical experience who desire advanced formation as professional
parish directors of religious education. In addition, all applicants must meet
the following criteria:
Have full Catechist
Certification or it's equivalent
Completed BFCL or an
equivalent leadership formation process
Have two written
recommendations (one must be from the pastor)
Be willing to complete
all sessions, assignments and activities
Participants will develop an understanding
of the Code of Ethics for Professional Catechetical Ministers
affirmed by NCCL. Many of the skills needed to minister in an
inclusive, multicultural church and diocese will be enhanced by
participating in the practicum process and networking with
catechetical leaders of different cultural and ethnic
backgrounds. You will also benefit from 60 hours of
undergraduate level theological study covering the areas
recommended in Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord. This two
year formation process will allow you to achieve the
competencies necessary to function as a Parish Catechetical
Leader.
In
November of 2005, the Office of Continuing Christian Education
received approval from the United States Conference of Catholic
Bishops’ Commission on Certification and Accreditation (USCCB/CCA),
located at 3211 South Lake Drive, Suite 317, St. Francis, WI

www.usccbcca.org ; to grant national certification to those
Parish Catechetical Leaders who have completed CLI and been
invited to enter into the application process.
