Respect Life Program
The Respect Life Program begins anew
each year on Respect Life Sunday, the first Sunday in
October. The program is highlighted in liturgies and marked
by special events. The USCCB Secretariat for Pro-Life
Activities publishes a program packet each year to call
attention to numerous human life issues. Each contains
information on current issues, program suggestions, liturgy
resources and clip art. It may also contain prayers for
daily recitation and parish bulletin briefs. Published in
booklet format from 1972 through 1992 and in "user-friendly"
packet form since 1993, these materials are especially
helpful for priests, parish groups, and other organizations.
Materials for this years program are now available. The
thematic articles beginning with 1996 are now available
online. Selected materials from previous years are available
through our extensive catalog.
CD-ROM: Celebrating
Life 1972-2002
Respect Life Sunday, October 2002
always the first Sunday of October, marked the 30th
anniversary of this successful educational program which was
started by the Catholic bishops of the U.S. in October 1972.
That year, and each succeeding year, the bishops have
focused on many critical concerns of the day — abortion,
euthanasia, marriage and family life, capital punishment,
poverty, immigration issues, chastity, natural family
planning, post-abortion healing and reconciliation, the
culture of life, biotechnology, children, teens, persons
with disabilities, the elderly, those who are dying, and
more. Every article that has appeared in the Respect Life
Program — from 1972 through 2002 — has been compiled on a
CD-ROM for easy access. This is a resource to have at your
fingertips. It is fully indexed. Item #0212. Cost: $9.95.
